Creating a Translation Glossaries

A guide to creating a translation glossary where a direct language translation won’t work or is unsuitable

Create a glossary of words that need to be translated in a specific way or not at all.

This feature is helpful for keeping product names and brand names in their native language.

For example, Talkative in French should remain as Talkative and not be translated to ‘bavard’ BUT Vauxhall should be translated to Opel in certain languages

  • Give your glossary a title
  • If you have a glossary already created you can upload it in a CSV
  • Add your languages We recommend adding your native language first so the glossary layout is easier to follow
  • Type each word of term in the relevant field In this example I want Talkative to remain the same in each language but I have variations for some other words
  • Click ‘Add Dictionary Row’ to add more fields
  • Select the Queues that the glossary applies to
  • Hit Save

  • Via the Settings menu, under ‘Advanced’, select ‘Translation Glossaries’
  • Hit ‘Create Glossary’ to get started
