WhatsApp: Adding an additional WhatsApp Business Account to your Engage account

If you would like to connect an additional WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) to Talkative, a new Service Config must first be created within the platform.

Each WABA is mapped 1:1 to a dedicated Twilio subaccount. In Talkative, these are referred to as Service Configs. For operational and platform governance reasons, only Talkative administrators can create new Service Configs.

Why this is an admin-controlled action

There are platform-level limits on the number of Service Configs that can be provisioned. As a result, additional WABAs are enabled on a case-by-case basis. In most scenarios, a single WABA can support multiple phone numbers, so the need for multiple WABAs is relatively uncommon and typically driven by specific business, brand, or regional requirements.

Before provisioning a new Service Config, we will need to understand the business case to ensure this is the most appropriate solution.

How to request an additional WABA

To proceed, please contact Talkative Support and provide:

  • The reason for requiring an additional WhatsApp Business Account
  • Whether this is for a new brand, region, legal entity, or use case
  • Confirmation that the relevant Meta Business Portfolio is available

Once the Service Config has been created, you can follow the existing guides to connect either a new or an existing WhatsApp Business Account. There is no need for a separate setup process beyond this initial provisioning step.

When might multiple WABAs be appropriate?

In most cases, a single WhatsApp Business Account is sufficient, as multiple phone numbers can be added under the same WABA. However, there are some scenarios where creating a separate WABA may be appropriate:

  • Distinct legal entities operating under different registered business details
  • Completely separate brands that require isolated governance, reporting, or display names
  • Regional separation where different countries or markets are managed independently
  • Strict data or compliance boundaries between business units
  • Operational isolation requirements, such as separate quality ratings or messaging reputations

If your requirement falls into one of the above categories, please outline this when contacting Talkative Support so we can assess the most suitable configuration.

If your use case is simply adding additional numbers for the same brand or entity, this can usually be achieved within your existing WABA without creating a new Service Config.
