WhatsApp: Adding new Talkative hosted numbers to your WhatsApp Business Account

When Talkative provision a phone number on your behalf for WhatsApp, we do so through Twilio — our underlying communications provider. Before a number can be purchased and used on Twilio’s platform (for WhatsApp or any voice/SMS use), it must meet local telecommunications regulatory requirements.

Twilio’s Regulatory Compliance Guidelines are designed to ensure that phone numbers are used in a manner consistent with local laws and carrier requirements. Because phone numbers are national resources, regulators around the world require proof of identity, address and business intent before a number can be provisioned and remain active on the network.

This means that in certain countries or regions, additional documentation may be required — such as business registration, proof of address or other supporting documents — before a hosted number can be ordered and activated.

Twilio maintains detailed, country-by-country guidelines outlining the specific requirements and compliance steps for phone numbers in each geography. These are updated as regulations evolve, and you should refer to them early in the process to understand what documentation may be needed.

Because these requirements are set by national authorities, not Twilio, they are outside of Talkative’s control — and failure to comply can result in numbers being delayed, suspended or revoked.

Please review the required information and documentation here: https://www.twilio.com/en-us/guidelines/regulatory for the required number type and regional location. Then submit this via email to support@gettalkative.com including:

  • Company name
  • region
  • Required number type
  • Required quantity
  • Target WABA name
  • Target WABA ID (if available)

The Talkative support team will process your request and submit the data to Twilio for verification. Should we require further details, we will be in touch.

Once the verification has been successful, we will purchase numbers on your behalf and then add them to your requested WABA.

A messaging service configuration may be needed to complete this process - if you receive a message when using this number that a messaging service could not be found, please contact Talkative support who will provision this for you.
