Setting Your Business Hours

Business hours allow you to set your business opening times and the shift patterns of your employees. You can then set your chat widget to follow these business hours so that you only receive interactions when you're online.


Update Business Hours

  1. Go to Settings → Business Hours.
  1. Click the Default preset to edit it.
  1. In the Standard Hours section, you can:
      • Click an existing time to update it
      • Click Add Shift to create a shift for a day with no hours
      • Use the three-dot menu next to a shift to:
        • Add Shift Before
        • Add Shift After

Add Override Dates (e.g. Holidays)

Override dates allow you to set custom hours for specific dates (e.g. public holidays).

  1. On the right-hand side, click Add Override Date
  1. Select a date
  1. Click Add Shift next to the date to define working hours for that day
  1. When finished, click Update Shifts

General Settings

Below the main shift section, you can:

  • Add a name and description for your shift pattern
  • Toggle whether this shift should be set as the default (only one default is allowed)

When you're done, click Update General Settings and Shifts to save your changes.


Multiple Shift Patterns (Multiple Business Hour Sets)

If you have multiple shift patterns, you will need to configure multiple business hour sets. In this case, there are some extra settings you may need to configure.

Create Business Hour Set

  1. Go to Settings → Business Hours.
  1. Click Create Preset or an existing preset to edit it.
      • If you’re creating a new preset, provide a name and description for the preset.
  1. In the Standard Hours section, you can:
      • Click an existing time to update it
      • Click Add Shift to create a shift for a day with no hours
      • Use the three-dot menu next to a shift to:
        • Add Shift Before
        • Add Shift After

Select Queues to Assign to Business Hours Set

Once the preset has been created, you will need to assign queues to the business hour set.

  1. Scroll down on the right-hand side, find Selected Queues
  1. On the left side of the box, double click any queues you want to assign to the preset.
  1. When finished, click Update General Settings and Shifts

Do I have to update these next year?

Yes, currently Talkative doesn’t set reoccurring override dates. Please regularly update your business hours.
