Transferring a Personal WhatsApp Number into WABA

Modified on Wed, 5 Nov at 9:45 AM

If you have a personal WhatsApp number which you have been using to communicate with your customers through WhatsApp Web, you'd likely want to transfer this number to a WABA so you can use it within Talkative. This can be done, but please note, you may experience some temporary downtime on the number whilst the migration process is underway.

If you have already tried to add the number to your WABA and you have received the following message, it is likely because this number is still active on a mobile phone:

To resolve this error, you must delete the WhatsApp account from the phone where the number is being used.

Deleting the number will delete any message history from that phone and prevent conversations from occurring whilst the migration is in progress. It may take several minutes before the number is being reported as free to add to the WABA.

Deleting the WhatsApp account can be done by loading the account settings within WhatsApp and then choosing to delete the account. You may need to do a 2fa process to verify your request.

Once you have deleted the number, you may add the number to your WABA as normal. Then within the Talkative platform, you can add the number as an external number.

When the number has been added your your WABA, you should verify it to allow your messages to be sent and received.

Finally, once your number has been verified, you can add the number to your Talkative account and direct it towards a queue.
