2 Factor Authentication (2FA) is a security feature supported within Talkative at a user level. This feature adds an extra layer of protection to your account by requiring a second form of verification in addition to your password.

Instructions to setup 2 factor authentication [5 minutes]

This section will cover how to setup 2 factor authentication for your user account. 


Step 1: Log into Talkative


Step 2: Navigate to the profile settings

  • At the bottom left of the page, click your profile icon. 
  • Then click "User Profile" from the small menu that appears. 


Step 3: Access Multi-factor Authentication settings

  • On the profile settings page, scroll down until you see the 'Multi-factor authentication section'
  • Click the 'Manage Multi-factor Authentication' button.


Step 4: Configure the authentication app

  • In the 'Authenticator App' section, click 'Configure authenticator app'..

  • This will display a QR code that can be scanned. 
  • On a mobile device, open your preferred authentication device.
    • Apps such as the Microsoft or Google Authenticator are supported 
  • Then on your authenticator app, click the "+" icon to add a new Authentication method.
    • For the Microsoft app the '+' icon is at the top right of the app.
    • For the Google app the '+' icon is at the bottom right of the app.
  • The authenticator app will then ask you to scan the QR code on the Talkative webpage.


Step 5: Continue the setup on Talkative

  • Once the QR code has been scanned, the authenticator app will start to generate a series of pass numbers that expire. after 30 seconds
  • Enter one of these pass numbers into the 'Code' field under the QR code that you scanned earlier.
  • Click 'Enable Authentication'

  • If the code is correct, you will be taken to the recovery codes section.
  • Make a note and save these codes in a safe place, since these can be used to log back into your account if you lose access to the authentication app.


Step 6: Login into Talkative

  • When you next log into Talkative, after you enter your email and password you will be presented with the Fulti Factor authentication page  
  • On this page you will need to open your authentication app and copy the onetime pass number from the app into the 'Authenticator code' text box.
